Australian record HB

GEORGETOWN (North Queensland) stud and commercial Brahman breeders Brian and Cindy Hughes paid an Australian herd bull record price of $96,000 for an unregistered Grey Brahman bull this morning, during the second day of the Big Country Brahman Sale in Charters Towers.

The price may be a world record for an unregistered herd bull of any breed.

The 37-month old Kenilworth 4899 was bred and sold by Kelvin Maloney, Kenilworth Brahman Stud, Mt Coolon.

The natural Poll was sired by Lancefield D Don Deablo 4700 (Sc), but no dam was identified in the catalogue.

Against a background of all-time record prices for live export cattle in North Queensland and fever-pitch loading activity this week through the nearby Port of Townsville, a total of 213 bulls sold at the Big Country sale over two days grossed 1.636 million to return an excellent average of $7680.

More details on the record-setter as they come to hand.

I have bought 6 bulls from Kenilworth. Only small numbers of cattle but we have been getting over90% poll calves over horned cows for 2 years. Yes ,they were aware of what they were buying.
