With multiple biosecurity threats in neighbouring countires, Cattle Council of Australia is urging all producers to make sure they are alert and have an up to date farm biosecurity plan.
Being prepared puts the industry on the front foot in the event of an incursion by limiting the spread of disease and greatly assisting in control and eradication efforts, the CCA said.
Cattle Council is advising producers to do the following to help protect the industry:
- Know the symptoms of Foot and Mouth Disease and Lumpy Skin Disease in Cattle;
- Make sure you know how to report a suspected case of either disease;
- Adhere to all traceability obligations, including ensuring all documentation is correctly completed such as NVDs and eNVDs.
- Review and update your on-farm biosecurity plan.

I feel one of the biggest risk to our country’s bio security is at the airports , where bio security threats arrive on a daily basis. The government needs to accept that this pathogen pathway needs more resources to monitor these threats using scientific methods as well as physical , ie sniffer dogs.
So where is the Biosecurity Fund that was to be bought in after the BJD saga
