Dalby sale 30 July 2025: Southern buyers return

Cattle numbers at Dalby remained virtually unchanged at 6,241 head. The national trend of large numbers of cows presented for sale continued with 1,714 penned along with 211 bulls. Buyer attendance was good and the southern buyers returned with additional operators included in the line up plus the regular feed and restockers.

Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock averaged 30c to 60c/kg better. Yearling steers to feed sold to a market 14c to 27c/kg dearer. Light weight yearling heifers to restockers improved in price by 50c/kg. Yearling heifers to feed gained 18c to 23c/kg and more in places. A very good lineup of bullocks and heavy grown heifers gained 35c to 44c/kg. All classes of cows sold to a much dearer trend of 40c to 60c/kg.

Light weight yearling steers to restockers made to a top of 558c with a good selection from 468c to 473c/kg. Yearling steers to feed for the domestic market made to 422c and averaged from 364c to 402c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed averaged from 430c to 434c and made to 488c/kg. Light weight yearling heifers returning to the paddock were in demand and made to 436c to average from 372c to 405c/kg. Medium yearling weight heifers to feed made to 422c to average from 364c to 402c/kg. Heavy weight yearling heifers to feed averaged 408c made to 428c/kg.

Heavy grown steers to export processors made to 452c and the bullock portion made to 445c to average 428c/kg. Heavy grown heifers averaged 419c and made to 432c/kg. Medium weight 2 score cows averaged 345c/kg. Heavy weight 3 score cows made to 388c/kg. The best of the heavy weight cows made to 428c and 925 head averaged from 380c to 404c/kg. Heavy weight bulls made to 402c/kg.

A similar yarding in Dalby today, with a large number of cows presented along with a number of bulls.  All categories were to dearer trends with all classes of cows 40c to 60c/kg dearer.  Heavy grown steers & heifers gained 35c to 45c, whilst feeder steers & heifers were 15c to 25c dearer.  Background steers averaged 30c to 45c dearer whilst heifer gained 40c to 55c/kg.  Kill bulls also gained 35c to 40c.
