Tim Mitchell, Chair of Future Feeders Network Committee.

MORE than 200 young lotfeeders from around the country have gathered today in Toowoomba for the inaugural Future Feeders Network Forum to discuss the future of the feedlot industry, career opportunities and share practical insights.

The Future Feeders Network is an arm of the Australian Lot Feeders Association (ALFA) for under 35’s working in the sector to have a network to explore career paths, develop skills, and actively contribute to the future of the sector.

Everything from social licence, to advances in technology, the variety of career paths, skills for the future and more have been discussed.

“The idea behind today is to get the young people of the in the industry, our the next leaders and future lotfeeders, get them networking, get them exposed to mentorship and get them exposed to the skills they need to take this industry in the right direction,” Future Feeders Network chair Tim Mitchell said.

“We are trying to develop and foster those skills and work out what skills will be needed for the next feedlotter.”

The forum will be followed tomorrow with a research focused day run by Meat & Livestock Australia and ALFA.
