INVESTOR interest is being sought for a proposed greenfield cattle feedlot development near Texas on the Queensland/New South Wales border.
Brisbane-based agribusiness firm Viem Ventures has released an investment memorandum outlining plans for a 25,225-head approved-capacity feedlot on a 385-hectare site on the Lochiel Aggregation 35 kilometres north-west of Texas.
The project has the potential to expand to 40,000 Standard Cattle Units.
The site has been selected for its proximity to grain supplies, cattle production areas and processing facilities in both states, with road and rail access highlighted in project documents.
The proposal outlines a custom-feeding operation with infrastructure including cattle handling systems, feed milling and storage, effluent and water management and staff accommodation.
Andrew Loughnan, Principal of Viem Ventures, said the project combined scale, water security and strategic location.
“Project Texas Valley Beef represents a rare opportunity to partner in a high-capacity, greenfield feedlot in one of Australia’s most productive agricultural regions.”
Development of the facility would be subject to relevant government approvals, including environmental and planning requirements. Viem Ventures said it is currently seeking investors to support the next stage of the project, which includes finalising approvals and commencing construction.
Revenue streams identified include custom feeding services, grain trading and by-product utilisation.
The developers are considering a range of flexible partnership models with potential investors and operational partners including self-funded operator models, joint ventures, sale and leaseback arrangements and institutional real estate partnerships.
“The landholder is committed to fostering synergetic relationships that enhance vertical integration with the existing grassfed operation, ensuring long-term sustainability and growth,” a media release detailing the proposal states.
