Weekly rainfall update + rainfall outlook 20 October 2025

WARM conditions and tropical moisture advected by low pressure troughs resulted in thunderstorms and showers across northern and eastern parts of the country. 

Weekly rainfall totals of 10 to 50 mm were recorded in northern parts of Western Australia and the Northern Territory, regions of northern, central and southern Queensland and pockets of north-eastern New South Wales, with locally higher totals above 50 mm.

Several cold fronts and associated low pressure troughs brought light to moderate rainfall to parts of southern Australia during the week. 

Weekly rainfall totals of 10 to 25 mm were recorded in parts of south-west Western Australia, eastern Victoria and northern Tasmania. Much of western Tasmania had weekly totals greater than 25 mm with totals greater than 50 mm in some isolated pockets.

The highest weekly total (at a Bureau gauge) was 120.0 mm at Copperlode Dam Alert in Queensland.

The highest daily total (at a Bureau gauge) was 108.0 mm at Robinhood Station in the Queensland in the 24 hours to 9 am on 15 October.
