Yarding 5823 Change -362
Cattle numbers at Dalby reduced by 362 head to 5823. The number of cows penned increased to 1067 and the supply of bulls reduced to 342 head. Buyer attendance was good and all were active in the market.

Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock averaged 5c/kg better and more on well bred lines. Yearling steers to feed for the domestic market averaged 8c to 13c/kg dearer. A large variation in the quality of the heavy weight yearling steers to feed allowed average prices to ease. Light weight yearling heifers to restockers averaged 5c/kg dearer. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed improved by 4c to 7c and a lift in the standard of the heavy weights resulted in gains of 16c/kg. Heavy grown steers and bullocks averaged 5c to 7c/kg better. Cows averaged 2c to 4c/kg cheaper against the reduced prices of the previous sale.
Light weight yearling steers to restockers made to 532c to average from 495c to 502c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers to feed made to 528c to average from 476c to 483c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed made to 482c to average 455c/kg. Light weight yearling heifers returning to the paddock made to 420c to average 379c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed averaged 397c to 399c and sold to 435c/kg. An excellent lineup of heavy weight yearling heifers to feed made to 452c average 422c/kg.
Bullocks made to 431c to average 423c/kg. Heavy grown heifers made to 418c to average 408c/kg. Medium weight 2 score cows averaged 329 and made to 341c/kg. Heavy weight 3 score cows averaged 355c and the best of the cows made to 385c to average 371c/kg. Heavy weight bulls made to 400c/kg.

A large yarding in Dalby today with all regular buyers in attendance. Heavy bulls eased by 30c/kg with cows also down by 10c/kg. Softer grown heavy heifers & steers sold to processors held firm on last week, whilst feeder steers & heifers sold to dearer trends. Light weight yearling steers were 5 to 10c/kg dearer while yearling heifers remained firm.
