Queensland Minister for Primary Industries Tony Perrett is leading an agricultural trade mission to Indonesia this week, accompanied by Australian industry representatives.

Queensland Minister for Primary Industries Tony Perrett (centre) with Troy Setter and Dicky Adiowoso visiting a PT Juang Jaya Abdi Alam feedlot in Indonesia.
The delegation is meeting with key Indonesian stakeholders to explore opportunities in value-added services, including livestock feed, genetics, technology solutions, and best-practice systems for animal health, traceability and supply chain efficiency.
Mr Perrett said the visit showcased Queensland’s role in supporting Indonesia’s food security and agricultural development, with a focus on the beef supply chain, live cattle trade and sustainable agricultural practices.
Last year Queensland’s total agriculture exports to Indonesia were valued at $718 million.
Mr Perrett said Queensland’s high-quality feeder cattle, robust biosecurity standards and commitment to animal welfare made the State a reliable supplier for Indonesia’s growing protein and dairy needs.
“Indonesia is Australia’s largest cattle export market and with Queensland producing almost half of the national herd, our relationship with this trading partner is critical to Queensland’s economy,” Mr Perrett said.
“The live cattle supply, especially from northern producers using the State’s northern ports like Townsville, is critical to Indonesia’s feedlot operations and our state’s economy.
“Indonesia is Southeast Asia’s largest economy and one of Queensland’s most important trading partners. With a population of over 250 million, the opportunities for collaboration in agriculture, food security, and innovation are immense.
“Queensland is committed to stringent animal welfare standards, and we support best practice along the supply chain, getting it right with our trading partners is a shared priority.”
