Dubbo sale 19 Mar 2026: Cows and calves come forward with drying conditions

Yarding 8500 Change +800

The numbers keep pouring in with a yarding of around 8500, that number up by 800 for the week. Once again there were large numbers of cows and their young calves as growers continue to sell off due to the drying conditions. There were odd pens of prime cattle in all sections along with fair numbers of young cattle to suit the feeders.

The few young cattle to the trade were 10c dearer with prime yearlings selling from 444c to 504c/kg. Feeder steers and lightweight feeder heifers were 6c to 12c cheaper while the heavier feeder heifers were 10c/kg dearer. The feeder steers sold from 440c to 522c while the feeder heifers sold from 365c to 476c/kg. Young cattle to the restockers were 30c to 50c cheaper with the constant flow of numbers along with the dearer freight costs due to the fuel prices appearing to have an effect. Young steers to the restockers sold to 570c while the young heifers sold to 454c/kg with the average prices considerably lower than previous sales.

Grown steers and heifers were firm with the prime grown steers selling from 426c to 488c while the prime grown heifers sold from 435c to 475c/kg. Cows were 15c to 18c cheaper with the 2 and 3 scores to the processors selling from 220c to 380c/kg. Prime heavy weight cows sold from 368c to 398c to average 385c/kg. Cows to the restockers sold from 150c to 422c/kg. Heavy bulls sold to 442c/kg.
