
Among larger steer lines offered this week were 540 Braford and Braford x Hereford steers 343kg at 12-24 months from Winton, Western Queensland, that sold on three lines from 380-382c/kg. Another 288 of their younger brothers 10-18 months averaging 284kg made 386c/kg.
LIGHTER steers and heifers continued to improve in value this week in online trading, in an offering of 9355 head on AuctionsPlus.
The offering was down 19 percent in size on last week, while clearance eased by 5pc to 83pc.
Listings were concentrated between NSW and Queensland, although Queensland’s contribution dropped 1680 head this week. NSW buyers purchased the highest number of cattle at 3613 head, followed by Queensland with 2118 head.
Steers accounted for 5392 head or 58pc of the offering.
Steers 200-280kg produced a 31c/kg rise to average 500c/kg, clearing 89pc of an offering of 1623 head. Medium weights 280-330kg) lifted another 4c to average 451c, but cleared only 76pc of an offering of 1398 head. The 330-400kg went backwards, easing 42c/kg to average 416c, clearing 82pc of the 1510 entries offered for competition. Heavy feeders +400kg lifted 49c to average 488c, clearing 91pc of the 785 head offered.
A line of Hereford and Hereford cross steers 6-8 months averaging 198kg from Haden, Queensland, returned $820/head or 415c/kg and will travel to a buyer near Bowenville, Queensland.

There were 2132 heifers offered this week. Light heifers 200-280kg jumped 52c/kg on last week to average 417c, clearing 92pc of the 1197 head offering. The 280-330kg heifers offered only 409 head, but cleared 94pc, with prices back 12c/kg to average 351c.
From Wallaroo, NSW 35 Angus heifers 10-11 months averaging 359kg returned $1570/head, or 438c/kg and will travel to a buyer near Bathurst, NSW.
Breeding females
In the breeding categories, there were 1710 head offered.
Best improvers were station-mated heifers, with only 200 offered, clearing 47pc, but lifting $681 in average value to $2041. PTIC heifers moved in the opposite direction, losing $171 on the previous week to average $1643, clearing only 49pc of an offering of 632 head.
A small offering of NSM cows & calves lost $400 in value, averaging $2060, while PTIC cows nudged up $13 to average $1976 (84pc clearance).
Twenty six Angus cows 34-35 months averaging 454kg from Tarcutta, NSW returned $2500, and will travel to a buyer in Boorowa, NSW.
