Yarding: 5903 Change: -2554
A reduced yarding with just over 5900 head of cattle offloaded at the Roma Saleyards Tuesday Sale.
The market responded to the quality presented across the day with all regular processors, feedlotters, and backgrounders actively bidding in a competitive market.
Drawn predominantly from the local supply district, the yarding featured an abundance of pens from the Maranoa including Injune, Wallumbilla, Mitchell and surrounds.
Multiple runs of cattle were also consigned from western and northern Queensland including Winton and Quilpie as well as down south to Goondiwindi.
The wide selection and quality of cattle on offer once again solidified Roma Saleyards as the marketplace of choice.
Lowan Hills Pastoral offloaded a line of Santa Gertrudis cross steers and heifers at today’s sale.
Vendor Jeffrey Gobbert averaged 560c/kg for his Santa Gertrudis cross steers weighing 254kg for a return of $1,423/hd.
Four pens of Santa Gertrudis cross steers fetched a straight 564c/kg to weigh 261kg for an average return of $1,468/hd.
Based out of Mitchell, two pens of the Lowan Hills Santa Gertrudis heifers made a straight 442c/kg to weigh 259kg to make $1,136/hd.
The line was consigned through GDL livestock agent Jason Belz.
Calioran Pastoral Co and Calco offloaded an extensive run of Droughtmaster cross and Angus cross heifers for an average 385c/kg weighing in at 330kg for a return of $1,272/hd.
A pen of Angus cross heifers fetched a top of 436c/kg to weigh 350kg for a return of $1,525/hd.
Operating out of Rolleston, a further pen of Droughtmaster cross heifers made 383c/kg to weigh 323kg to make $1,235/hd.
The line was consigned through Nutrien livestock agent Zac Robinson.
Arbroath Grazing continued its turnoff with another run of Simmental cross steers fresh off the oats.
Fetching an average 425c/kg to weigh 755kg for a return of $3,207/hd.
Two pens of Simmental cross steers made 436c/kg weighing in at 741kg to average $3,232/hd.
The line was consigned through PJH Livestock.
NLRS Commentary:
With scattered showers numbers decreased by 2554 head were Roma Agents penned 5903 head. The regular buyers attended including three southern operators. The quality of the yarding was mixed with the market responding accordingly.
Yearling steers under 200kg to 522c/kg. Yearling steers 200 to 280kg topping 562c/kg to average 522c/kg. Yearling steers 280 to 330kg made from 300c to 562c/kg to restockers. Yearling steers 330 to 400kg sold to 502c to restockers and 482c/kg to Lot Feeders. Yearling steers 400 to 480kg made from 420c to 490c/kg to Lot Feeders. Yearling steers over 480kg to 441c/kg to processors.
Yearling heifers 200 to 280kg sold from 200c to 412c/kg to restockers. Yearling heifers 280 to 330kg made to 376c to Lot Feeders and 412c/kg to restockers. Yearling heifers 330 to 400kg with the majority to Lot Feeders made to 436c/kg. Yearling heifers 400 to 480kg topped 442c/kg to processors.
Steers 400 to 500kg made to 490c/kg to Lot Feeders. Grown steers 500 to 600kg to 448c/kg to Lot Feeders. Once again some well finished bullocks penned. Bullocks over 600kg sold to 436c/kg to processors. Grown heifers over 540kg to 428c/kg to processors.
A smaller offering of cows penned. Cows could not maintain the levels of the previous sale. The best of the 3 score cows sold to 390c and the 2 score cows sold from 200c to 360c/kg. A large yarding of bulls penned. Bulls 450 to 600kg made to 360c and heavy bulls over 600kg to 426c/kg.

A total of 5,903 head of cattle were consigned at Roma’s Store Sale on Tuesday.
Weaner steers under 200kg topped at 522c/kg and averaged 475c/kg, weaner steers in the 200-280kg range reached 562c/kg and averaged 513c/kg. Steers in the 280-330kg range reached 562c/kg and averaged 475c/kg, and steers in the 330-400kg range reached 502c/kg and averaged 459c/kg. Feeder steers in the 400-500kg range topped at 490c/kg and averaged 433c/kg.
