Yarding: 9780 Change: +1424
With nearly 10,000 head of cattle penned, there was no slowing down the market at the Roma Saleyards, with prices firm to slightly stronger compared to last week’s sale.
A quality yarding of cattle favouring the heavy feeder weaner and bullock job.
All the regular processors, feedlotters and backgrounders were present and actively bidding throughout the day.
The yarding featured cattle consigned primarily from the local supply district, including Roma, Wallumbilla, Morven, Mitchell, Dirranbandi and Charleville.
Cattle were also drawn from as far afield as Cloncurry in the north and Condobolin in the south.
The quality and selection of cattle on offer once again showcased Roma Saleyards as the marketplace of choice.
Peter Smith of ‘Paronella’, south of Roma offloaded a pen of Murray Grey cross steers.
Mr Smith fetched 406c/kg to weigh 493kg for an average return of $2,002/hd.
The line was consigned through GDL Roma.
Terry Jukes of ‘Armadilla Station’ offloaded a quality run of 131 Santa Gertrudis cross and Angus cross steers for an average 361c/kg weighing 592kg for a return of $2,138/hd.
Two pens of Santa Gertrudis cross steers sold for a straight 360c/kg to weigh 624kg fetching $2,246/hd.
A further pen of Santa Gertrudis cross steers fetched 365c/kg for an average weight of 561kg to make $2,047/hd.
The line was consigned through GDL Roma.
S & A Cockerill offloaded a line of Charolais cross and Santa Gertrudis steers for an average 464c/kg weighing 229kg to make $1,058/hd.
Based out of Jandowae, the Cockerill’s sold four pens of Charolais cross steers for a straight 468c/kg to weigh 236kg for a return of $1,104/hd.
On the heavier end a pen of Charolais cross steers made 468c/kg weighing 259kg to fetch $1,215/hd.

Budda Station Pastoral Co offloaded a quality run of 152 Santa Gertrudis cross steers for a straight 448c/kg to weigh 270kg for a return of $1,197/hd.
A pen of the Santa Gertrudis cross steers weighing 324kg topped at an average $1,452/hd.
The line was consigned through Nutrien Roma.
NLRS Commentary:
Continuing dry conditions Roma Agents yarded 9,780 head. All the regular processors feedlotters and backgrounders were present. A quality yarding penned with heavy feeders weaners and bullocks and approx 2,500 cows. The market firm to slightly stronger.
Yearling steers under 200kg topped 452c/kg. Yearling steers 200 to 280kg with the majority selling from 360c to 488c/kg. Yearling steers 280 to 330kg making to 458c to average 413c/kg to restockers. Yearling steers 330 to 400kg up almost 35c/kg to make 414c to feed and 456c/kg to restockers. Yearling steers 400 to 480kg sold to 444c/kg. Yearling steers over 480kg made to 365c/kg to processors.
Yearling heifers 200 to 280kg sold from 224c to 380c/kg to restockers. Yearling heifers 280 to 330kg also topped 380c/kg to restockers. Yearling heifers 330 to 400kg made to 372c/kg. Yearling heifers 400 to 480kg with the majority selling to 362c/kg. Yearling heifers over 480kg to 368c/kg to feed.
Heavy manufacturing bullocks to 344c/kg. Grown steers 400 to 500kg to 430c/kg. Grown steers 500 to 600kg to 430c and bullocks over 600kg to 360c/kg. Heavy heifers over 540kg to 352c/kg. Another very large yarding of approx 2500 cows on offer. Cows were still selling at the time of this report and will be up dated if necessary. The 2 score cows 400 to 520kg sold from 200c to 289c/kg. The 3 score cows over 520kg sold to 347c to average 324c/kg. Bulls over 600kg topped 324c/kg for an Euro bull.

A total of 9,780 head of cattle were consigned at Roma’s Store Sale on Tuesday.
Weaner steers under 200kg topped at 452c/kg and averaged 422c/kg, weaner steers in the 200-280kg range reached 488c/kg and averaged 426c/kg. Steers in the 280-330kg range reached 458c/kg and averaged 414c/kg, and steers in the 330-400kg range reached 458c/kg and averaged 404c/kg. Feeder steers in the 400-500kg range topped at 444c/kg and averaged 387c/kg.
