Yarding: 7259 Change: -375

With the sun shining down on the yarding of over 7200 head, the laneways were busy with many of the regular buyers, lotfeeders and backgrounders in attendance and competing for the yarding which hailed from near and far.

Several consignments were drawn from the local Maranoa supply district including Injune, Jackson, Surat, Mitchell, Wallumbilla and Yuleba.

Cattle were also sent from Dulacca and Tara in the east, and from Augathella, Barcaldine, Blackall, Longreach, Tambo and Quilpie in the west.

The yarding was also sourced from further south; from Bollon, St George and Westmar in Queensland, and as far afield as South Australia.

Yorkaringa Farming Trust offloaded Droughtmaster cross steers to 500c/kg, averaging 443kg and receiving a return of $2,216/hd.

Operating out of ‘Yorkaringa’, Wallumbilla, two pens of Droughtmaster cross steers fetched 500c/kg, with one of the pens weighing in at 450kg and averaging $2,255/hd.

Thompson Business Trust of ‘Kullinjah’, St George, sold a run Santa Gertrudis cross steers, Charolais cross steers and Simmental cross steers for 547c/kg to weigh 322kg and receive a return of $1,762/hd.

One pen of Santa Gertrudis cross steers made 542c/kg, averaging 354kg and making $1,919/hd.

A pen of Charolais cross steers fetched 534c/kg weighing in at 343kg and receiving $1,834/hd.

The line was consigned through Grant, Daniel and Long Blackall.

Howson Family Trust sold steers for 527c/kg, averaging 306kg and returning $1,617/hd.

Based out of ‘Banumba’, Tara, one pen of Angus cross steers fetched 514c/kg to weigh 352kg and make $1,809/hd.

A further pen of Angus cross steers made 544c/kg, weighing in at 283kg and receiving a return of $1,540/hd.

Trimroads Construction Co sold steers for 484c/kg, weighing 224kg and averaging $1,084/hd.

Operating out of ‘Cowabbie’, St George, one pen of Angus cross steers sold for 510c/kg, weighing 218kg and selling to $1,112/hd.

The line was consigned through MAA Livestock & Property.

NLRS Commentary:

Roma Agents yarded 7,259 head. Most of the regular buyers attending with two export operators absent. A mixed quality yarding steers and heifers penned which related to the market. A large run of cows and bulls penned which sold to similar rates to last sale, with store cows stronger. Cattle were drawn from NSW and the normal supply area.

Yearling steers under 200kg sold to 608c/kg to restockers. Yearling steers 200 to 280kg topped 580c/kg to restockers. Yearling steers 280 to 330kg sold from 330c to 578c/kg to restockers. Yearling steers 330 to 400kg made to 520c to Lot Feeders and 578c/kg to restockers. Yearling steers 400 to 480kg topped 512c to average 499c/kg to Lot Feeders. Yearling steers over 480kg sold to 482c to Lot Feeders and 476c/kg to processors.

Yearling heifers under 200kg sold to 432c/kg to restockers. Yearling heifers 200 to 280kg topped 446c/kg to restockers. Yearling heifers 280 to 330kg sold from 300c to 442c/kg to restockers. Yearling heifers 330 to 400kg made to 464c to lot Feeders and 444c/kg to restockers. Yearling heifers 400 to 480kg topped 450c to average 449 to lot Feeders. Yearling heifers over 480kg sold to 428c/kg to processors.

A small number of grown steers 400 to 500kg sold to 472c/kg to processors. Grown 500 to 600kg sold from 438c to 476c/kg to processors.Bullocks over 600kg to 470kg to processors. Grown heifers over 540kg to 430c/kg to processors.

Another large yarding of prime cows penned with the score 3 cows selling to 395c to average 382c/kg. The 2 score cows 400 to 520kg sold from 260 to 360c/kg. Bulls to 450kg made to 446c/kg to Lot Feeders. Bulls 450 to 600kg to 404c/kg. Bulls over 600kg to 454c to restockers and 418c/kg to processors.

A total of 7,259 head of cattle were consigned at Roma’s Store Sale on Tuesday.

Weaner steers under 200kg topped at 608c/kg and averaged 525c/kg, weaner steers in the 200-280kg range reached 580c/kg and averaged 524c/kg. Steers in the 280-330kg range reached 578c/kg and averaged 527c/kg, and steers in the 330-400kg range reached 578c/kg and averaged 501c/kg. Feeder steers in the 400-500kg range topped at 513c/kg and averaged 490c/kg.

RT & DM Purtell, Talwood Road, Daymar sold Santa Gertrudis cross steers to 600c/kg, reaching a top of $2,654 to average $1,536.

Joel Henney, Maranda, Barcaldine sold Simmental cross steers to 578c/kg, reaching a top of $1,702 to average $1,702.  The Simmental cross heifers sold to 440c/kg, reaching a top of $1,222 to average $1,222.

Maranda Pastoral Co, Maranda, Barcaldine sold Simmental cross steers to 578c/kg, reaching a top of $2,019 to average $1,687.  The Simmental cross heifers sold to 444c/kg, reaching a top of $1,981 to average $1,496.

RP & TM Sevil, Kenilworth, Mitchell sold Santa Gertrudis steers to 560c/kg, reaching a top of $1,689 to average $1,529.

Heifers in the 280-330kg range topped at 464c/kg, averaging 408c/kg. Heifers in the 330-400kg range topped at 450c/kg, averaging 415c/kg. Heifers in the 400-500kg range topped at 450c/kg, averaging 418c/kg.

Whitton Cattle Company, Myrtleville, Injune sold Charolais cross heifers to 446c/kg, reaching a top of $1,529 to average $1,529.

Cows in the 330-400kg range reached 360c/kg and averaged 306c/kg. Cows in the 400-500kg range topped at 392c/kg, averaging 349c/kg. Cows in the 500-600kg range topped at 392c/kg, averaging 374c/kg. Cows over 600kg topped at 395c/kg, averaging 384c/kg.

Cowarie Pastoral Co, Cowarie Station, South Australia sold Santa Gertrudis cows to 382c/kg, reaching a top of $2,072 to average $1,640.

MJ Munday, Mirrabooka, Muckadilla sold Droughtmaster cows to 382c/kg, reaching a top of $2,227 to average $1,974.
