THE Crisafulli Government says it is delivering the foundation for a fresh start for the agriculture industry, unveiling Primary Industries Prosper 2050, following six-months of collaboration between the Government, industry and primary producers from all corners of Queensland.
Following the consultation, five key priorities were identified, including:
- Market growth and value-adding
- Innovation, readiness and adoption
- A skilled and agile workforce
- Connected and shared infrastructure
- Coexistence and community support
- Ease of business (coordinated and harmonised regulation and systems).
The Primary Industries Prosper 2050 blueprint also drives the Crisafulli Government’s target to boost Queensland’s primary production output to $30 billion by 2030.
More than 3200 Queenslanders participated in the state-wide consultation that was launched in February which included 16 in person regional information sessions, 5 webinars, drop-in hubs at 3 major agriculture events and attracted hundreds of submissions.
The blueprint will be delivered through five-year region or industry-based action plans in a bid to drive accountability and outcomes for Queensland.
Three Regional Industry Government Working Groups made up of primary producers, industry representatives and departmental staff will now prepare plans for the Far North Queensland region, North and Western Queensland region, Central Queensland, Mackay Isaac Whitsunday region, Darling Downs and South West region, Wide Bay Burnett region, and South East Queensland region.
The regional action plans will develop tailored local solutions and initiatives across Queensland’s primary industries.
Two industry action plans will also be delivered: the Queensland Future Timber Plan is open for consultation and a fisheries industry plan will also be developed.
Premier David Crisafulli said Prosper 2050 was Queensland’s roadmap to increasing primary production output to $30 billion by 2030.
“We are delivering a fresh start for Queensland’s agriculture industry – it’s one of the backbones of Queensland and will play a massive role in driving the State’s future,” Premier Crisafulli said.
“This Blueprint sets a bold vision for the future, and has been shaped by thousands of people who live and breathe this industry every day.
“This is about unlocking new industry opportunities in every corner of Queensland to ensure the sector can thrive for decades to come.
“We are backing primary producers with a clear plan to grow our agriculture sector with more jobs and more opportunity for regional Queensland.”
Minister for Primary Industries Tony Perrett said the landmark vision will drive growth, innovation, and sustainability across all primary industries.
“Prosper 2050 is more than a strategy – it’s a shared vision we’ve built with farmers, fishers, foresters, processors, researchers, regional communities and industry bodies,” Minister Perrett said.
“We’ve listened to thousands of Queenslanders and now we’re co-designing the action plans that will define what gets delivered on the ground — in regions, across sectors, and for the future workforce.
“The Crisafulli Government is proud to back our producers every step of the way with a strategy that’s not just visionary – it’s grounded, collaborative and ready to deliver.”
