Three Australian brands claim success at the World Steak Challenge

WHILE an entrant from the Northern Hemisphere has taken the overall World Steak Challenge title off Australia, the country has still found success at this year’s competition – with three brands winning their sections.

Irish company Dawn Meats, along with Lidl supermarkets, has taken the overall winner off Australian-based Jack’s Creek – who have won the award for the past two years.

However, Jack’s Creek has still enjoyed success at the 2025 competition in London, winning the World’s Best Wagyu Steak and Oceania’s Best Steak with a Purebred Wagyu Sirloin. Hancock Agriculture’s 2GR Wagyu won the World’s Best Grainfed eye fillet award and Western Australian company Pardoo Wagyu won the World’s Best Grainfed Sirloin.

Jack’s Creek UK & EU Head of Sales, Kaine Allan, said the recognition reflects years of precision breeding and craftsmanship.

“Being named the world’s best Wagyu is an incredible honour,” Mr Allan said. “Every steak we enter represents the hard work of our team and partners – this result reinforces our position as one of the finest Wagyu producers in the world.”

Hosted overnight at London’s Smith & Wollensky Steakhouse, the World Steak Challenge tests taste, with an independent judging panel
rewarding producers for excellence in marbling, tenderness, flavour and consistency.

Jack’s Creek Managing Director, Patrick Warmoll, said the Wagyu win is a continuation of a proud legacy.

“Our family has spent decades refining Wagyu genetics, feeding programs and processing standards,” Mr Warmoll said.

The steak came from a Purebred Wagyu steer bred on the Warmoll family’s Big Jack’s Creek farm in Willow Tree, NSW, backgrounded at Urubula, Breeza, NSW, finished at Lemontree Feedlot, QLD, and processed at Casino Food Company, Casino, NSW.

Jack’s Creek processes grain-fed Wagyu, Wagyu Cross and Black Angus cattle and exports to more than 30 countries worldwide.

“From paddock to plate, we never compromise on quality,” Mr Warmoll added.
