Dubbo sale 7 May 2026: Young cattle, slaughter cows firmer in 6760 head yarding

Yarding 6760 Change -420

Numbers were back by 400 for a yarding of 6760. Cows and their weaner calves once again made up a large percentage of the yarding. There were odd pens of yearlings to suit the feeders along with a better selection of well finished grown steers and heifers. Not all the regular buyers were present with some South Australian and Victorian restocker orders absent.

Young cattle to the trade were a little dearer with prime vealers and yearlings selling from 380c to 461c/kg. Feeder steers were up to 30c dearer, the feeder heifers were firm. Feeder steers sold from 410c to 532c while the feeder heifers sold from 352c to 482c/kg. The very best of the young cattle to the restockers were 20c dearer, the secondary types though were considerably cheaper. Young steers to the restockers sold from 190c to 542c while the young heifers sold from 255c to 434c/kg.

Grown steers and heifers finished around firm with the prime grown steers selling from 400c to 467c/kg. Prime grown heifers sold from 410c to 454c/kg. Cows to the processors and restockers were 20c to 30c/kg dearer. 2 and 3 score cows to the processors sold from 150c to 347c while the prime heavy weights sold from 350c to 385c to average 370c/kg. Cows to the restockers sold from 194c to 358c/kg. Bulls sold to 400c/kg.
