CATTLE listings rebounded strongly this week following the shortened Easter selling week, more than doubling to 20,032 head. Clearance improved to 59 percent, up 10 percentage points week-on-week, reflecting a lift in buyer confidence alongside the larger offering.
Most young steer and heifer categories lifted in value, reversing the trend of the previous two weeks.
Steers again made up the largest portion of the offering, with results firm to dearer across most categories.
Biggest gains were seen for steers 330–400kg, lifting 32c to average 533c/kg to average 533c, while clearing 68pc of the offering of 1446 head.
Steers 200–280kg gained 18c to average 519c, clearing 59pc of the 2487 offered.
The only softer result was in the light steers less than 200kg, which fell 19c. Demand remained consistent across most weight categories, with clearance rates holding between 53–75pc.
A line of 90 Angus steers 9-10 months averaging 336kg from Alexandra, VIC, returned 714c/kg and will travel to a buyer in Anakie, VIC.
From Charam, SA, 35 Hereford steers 10-11 months averaging 361kg returned 569c/kg and will travel to a buyer in Wannon, VIC.

Heifer performance was a highlight this week, particularly in the heavier categories.
Heifers + 400kg lifted sharply, up 89c to average 523c, clearing 78pc of the small offering of 272 head. Heifers 200-280kg lifted 28c to average 417c, clearing 66pc of the 3053 head offered. Clearance rates were stronger, peaking at 86pc in the 330–400kg range, indicating solid competition for quality lines.
From Texas, QLD, 11 Simmental heifers 17-19 months averaging 439kg returned $4210, or 960c/kg and will travel to a buyer in Swanfels, QLD.
Breeding females
Breeding female results were mixed, with limited offerings in some categories leading to variable outcomes. NSM cows and calves saw strong demand, lifting $805/pair to average $2305, clearing 58pc of the offering of 546 head.
Losing value were PTIC heifers, where a big offering of 1295 cleared only 10pc of the catalogue, averaging $1759, down $308 on last week. PTIC cvows lost $17 to average $1779. SM cows and calves lost $327/pair, averaging $2069, while clearing 77pc of the offering of 459 pairs.
NSW again offered the largest volume, followed by Queensland and Victoria.
