Yarding 6905 Change -1308

Despite the ongoing dry weather, numbers at Dalby fell by 1308 head to a yarding of 6905. There was a wide variation in the standard of the large lineup of 1630 cows and 356 bulls penned. Export buyer attendance was good with one additional operator in the cow section. A fair panel of feed and trade plus restocker buyers were active in the market.
Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock were firm to marginally better. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed improved in price. Yearling heifers generally could not maintain the levels of the previous sale. Bullocks to export processors sold to a dearer trend. Prices for cows stabilised in places with plain condition lines receiving stronger support.
Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock averaged from 446c to 453c and sold to 514c/kg. Yearling steers to feed for the domestic market made to 476c and averaged from 453c to 454c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed made to a top of 500c with a fair sample averaging 450c/kg. Lightweight yearling heifers to restockers made to 355c with a large selection averaging from 292c to 323c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed averaged from 328c to 331c and sold to 368c/kg. Heavy weight yearling heifers to feed made to 406c with most sales at 350c/kg.
Heavy grown steers to export processors made to 449c and bullocks made to 436c and averaged 431c/kg. Medium weight 2 score cows averaged 261c and made to 286c/kg. Heavy weight 3 score cows averaged 306c and the best of the heavy weight cows made to 350c and averaged 330c/kg. Heavy weight bulls made to 410c/kg and one bull found a new home at $4,155/head
