Yarding: 8472 Change: +1019

This week’s sale marked one of the largest yardings that the Roma Saleyards has consigned this calendar year to date, with just over 8470 head penned.

There were many good lines of cattle on offer, including great runs of feeders and backgrounders among the mammoth yarding.

Many of the regular buyers, feedlotters and backgrounders were present.

Once again, cattle travelled from near and far to go under the hammer at the Roma Saleyards, with this week seeing cattle consigned from across three states.

Cattle were drawn from Augathella, Blackall, Charleville, Morven, Tambo and Winton in western Queensland, and from Hannaford and Meandarra in the Western Downs region.

The yarding was also sourced from further south, from Coonamble in New South Wales and as far afield as South Australia.

Across the local Maranoa supply district, consignments were drawn from areas such as Amby, Hodgson, Injune, Mitchell, Roma and Wallumbilla.

Whitton Cattle Company of ‘Myrtleville’, Injune, sold a run of steers, with two pens of Charolais cross steers each fetching 516c/kg.

The heaviest pen of the two weighed in at 377kg and received a return of $1,948/hd.

The line was consigned through Watkins and Company.
